Beware of Falling Air Conditioners

Follow these steps to make sure your window unit is properly installed.

Step 1: Setting up a window heating and cooling unit is a relatively easy Do It Yourself task. Because air conditioners are usually heavy, you might have to attach an installing bracket to the window sill to support it. Protect the brackets using sheet metal screws for metal frames, and wood screws for wood or vinyl frames. Then, change the level in between the mounting bracket ad window sill.

Connect the accordion-like panels onto the sides of the air conditioner that might be included in your replacement kit. Next, position the air conditioner onto the mounting brackets.

Step 2: Secure the ac unit. With the ac system securely installed, much lower the window on top of it. Extend the accordion-like panels to both sides of the window frame and screw them into place.
